Tomb of Budshah's Mother

Built by Zain-ul-Abidin for his mother, this tomb of glazed brick with five domes shows the influence of Persian and Central Asian building. It stands in the Mazar-e-Salatin, the graveyard of the sultans, where Zain-ul-Abidin himself is buried.

Facts

  • It is one of the few early brick buildings to survive in the Valley.
  • Its stone enclosure and gateway are thought to come from an older temple on the site.
