Wular Lake

One of the largest freshwater lakes in South Asia.

The Jhelum flows into and out of Wular, which acts as a natural flood basin for the Valley. Its size changes greatly with the seasons. Sudden afternoon winds can whip it into dangerous waves, which is why Zain-ul-Abidin built an island refuge in its middle.
