Amira Kadal

The first of old Srinagar's bridges, built under Afghan rule.

Amira Kadal was built by the Afghan governor Amir Khan Jawan Sher and takes his name. It is the first of the bridges that cross the Jhelum as it winds through the old city. The original wooden bridge has been rebuilt in modern materials.
