Ahmad Shah Durrani

Founder of the Afghan empire that took Kashmir in 1752.

Ahmad Shah Durrani founded the empire from which modern Afghanistan grew. As the Mughals weakened, his army took Kashmir, which was then ruled by a series of governors sent from Kabul until 1819.
